Natural gas has emerged as the most preferred fuel due to its inherent environmentally benign nature, greater efficiency and cost effectiveness. The demand of natural gas has sharply increased in the last two decades at the global level. In India too, the natural gas sector has gained importance, particularly over the last decade, and is being termed as the Fuel of the 21st Century. Production of natural gas, which was almost negligible at the time of independence, is at present at the level of around 87 million standard cubic meters per day.

Usage of LPG as a fuel was introduced in INDIA in the 1990’s following a trend that had already started in EUROPE with over 1,00,000 vehicles already running on autogas in the 1980’s

The government of INDIA gave PUNE the permission to use LPG in vehicles in 2003 with number of LPG retrofttment and refuelling centres coming up.

Worldwide, there were 12.6 million natural gas vehicles by 2010, up 11.6% over the previous year, led by Pakistan with 2.74 million, Iran 1.95 million, Argentina 1.9 million, Brazil 1.6 million, and India 1.1 million

Citing the enviornmental balance and cost efficiency of bi-fuel usage the mahrashtra government gave permission to use natural gas as fuel oficially in 2003 with LPG coming first followed by CNGThe introduction of LPG in pune was in 2003 and that of CNG in 2008 with the latter being more cost efficient and eco-friendly .
